Embedded experts in online collaborative learning: A case study

The affordance of online communication and collaboration technology provides a forum for preservice teachers, practicing teacher educators to engage in authentic discourse where multiple perspectives can be shared. This qualitative case study explores the perceptions experiences embedded experts global learning community that occurred over 12 year period. was designed using Online Collaborative Learning Framework developed by authors 2006. goal provide nuanced understanding discussion real world issues related today's diverse digital classrooms. From thematic analysis data, following three implications emerged: Purposeful selection technology; orientation supports experts; design an organic environment fosters development including experts. • collaborate experience modeled effective use technology. Technology enabled support teachers. Embedded teachers learn with from each other. shared experiences, perspectives, resources. enjoyed valued collaborative experience.
